Mushers compete in the second leg after a stage in Pinedale

PINEDALE – While only one leg of the Pedigree

Stage Stop Race, Anny Malo from Quebec,

Canada, finished the 34-mile stage 2 of the race

in Pinedale, Sunday, in first place. She had a total

elapsed time of 2:22:17.

She was followed closely by Érick LaForce

in second place with 2:23:14. Lina Streeper, last

year’s overall winner, placed third with 2:24:21.

Richard Beck placed fourth with 2:31:00 followed

very closely by Jeff Conn in fifth place

with 2:31:50.

The shorter Eukanube Eight-Dog Classic

winners were announced Sunday evening at the

mushers’ dinner in Pinedale.

The winner of this year’s Eukanuba 8-Dog

Classic race is Maria Torgerson from Red Lodge,

Mont. Her overall time for 2 days of a total 53

miles was 3:42:58.

Awards and prize money were distributed to

these competitors following the Pinedale Stage at

the Upper Green Lake Trailhead in Cora.

The longer eight-day race will end Feb. 3 in

Jackson.
