Swimmers compete at Green River

GREEN RIVER – The Sublette County girls’ swim team entered its second week of competition at the Green River Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Teams included numerous 4A schools like Cheyenne East, Evanston, Jackson and Rock Springs. Sublette County placed eighth overall with 95 points.
Senior Sierra Hattan qualified for State in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly at Green River. Hattan took first place in the butterfly.
“We had the opportunity to compete against some strong teams in Green River this weekend,” said coach Kursty Day. “It was a good learning experience for our young swimmers. I was excited to see some time drops this early in the season. (Big Piney junior) Rayne Wheeler missed qualifying in the 200-individual medley by 18 hundredths of a second. We will continue to work hard in practice.”
“With many 4A teams, the Green River Invite was probably the toughest competition we’ll see this season,” coach Ambr Seemann added. “It was a great experience to encourage our swimmers and divers to keep practicing hard. It is good to see our returning swimmers swimming faster than last year at this point in the season. We had some big time drops from last weekend in Lander and hope to continue to see that as the season progresses.”
Individual results were not posted due to the holiday and will run in Friday’s Roundup.
The team is back in the pool for a doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10-11. On Friday, the team competes at the Kemmerer Invite starting at 4 p.m. Saturday features the Lyman Invitational at 10 a.m.
