Sublette Gem and Mineral Show will be dazzling

Sublette County Rock

Hounds are at it again.

The group is having the third annual gem

and mineral show this weekend, June 14-16,

at the Sublette County Fairgrounds in the

Event Center.

This year there will be 17 vendors comprised

of returning dealers and new faces

selling rock, jewelry, slabs, fossils, beads

and specimens. One of the new participants

is Diamond Pacific Tool Corporation, a

manufacturer of lapidary equipment and supplies

from Barstow, Calif. This will be the

company’s first show ever in Wyoming. In

addition to a variety of vendors the show will

offer opportunities to shop for rocks from all

over the world, talk to knowledgeable people

about rock collecting, lapidary and jewelry

making.

There will be numerous activities for

children including another new face to the

show – Bryce Hixson of Loose in the Lab

from Utah. He involves the crowd in actual

chemistry experiments related to the science

of geology – amazing fun for all ages. Other

ways kids can enjoy the gem and mineral

show will be painting a rock, playing the

wheel of fortune and digging for topaz.

In the Event Center will be displays and

exhibits reflecting the history and beauty of

the world around us, a black-light exhibit and

a silent rock auction area. Demonstrators will

show the arts of knapping, faceting and wirewrapping

jewelry.

Admission to the Sublette County Rock

Hounds Gem and Mineral show is $2 for

adults and children are free accompanied

by adults. Additionally, there will be door

prizes, raffles and a beautiful pink amethyst

grand prize.
