Sublette County Health Foundation hires executive director

PINEDALE — After a round of interviews, the Sublette County Health Foundation Board is proud to announce that Kari DeWitt will be the organization’s first executive director. Founded in 2022, the Foundation is the charitable giving arm of the Sublette County Hospital District.
Star Valley Health COO Mike Hunsaker writes, “It is a common model for hospitals to have the public relations director also be the director of the foundation. We are pleased that Kari is willing to step into both roles and continue to help move the organization forward.”
David Doorn, administrator for Sublette County Hospital District, adds, “Kari is a valuable member or our team and we look forward to Kari combining the PR and Foundation duties.  Congratulations, Kari!”
DeWitt brings an extensive background to the role, having worked for nonprofits most of her career. She worked at THEATREWORKS in Colorado Springs for nine years and helped lay the groundwork for their capital campaign for the ENT Center for the Arts, a $70-million performing arts center. After moving to Pinedale with her husband and baby daughter 12 years ago, she took on the executive director role at the Pinedale Fine Arts Council, where she tripled annual giving and quadrupled the number of season ticket holders. She volunteered extensively on the hospital campaign in 2020 and continues to be a tireless advocate for improving health care in Sublette County.
DeWitt notes, “I am thrilled to bring my extensive fundraising and grant writing background to this new role. Fantastic healthcare is a pillar of any community, not only in terms of community health, but also in driving economic development, creating great jobs, retaining young families and just making the community a better place to live. I cannot wait to get started with the Foundation and supporting both the hospital and the Sublette Center.”
The Sublette County Health Foundation Board is comprised of three members, Jamison Ziegler, Tonia Hoffman and Dave Bell. The plan is to add more members shortly to round out the board. Ziegler notes, “The Foundation Board is pleased to have taken another step toward advancing the cause of outstanding healthcare in Sublette County. We welcome Kari DeWitt and her amazing talents as Foundation director. Kari’s work, along with the Foundation Board, will be integral in achieving the mission and vision of the hospital district. She will be relentless in helping make critical elements of care accessible for all Sublette county citizens.”
