Quartet of Lady Punchers make All-Conference team

SUBLETTE COUNTY – The Big Piney High School Lady Puncher volleyball team capped off a successful season with four athletes receiving 2021 2A West All-Conference honors.

The Wyoming Coaches Association recognized seniors Jocie Banks, Hanna Hansen and Sierra Keiter and junior Hannah Runyan.

Banks was named the All-Conference Player of the Year in addition to making the All-State roster.

Banks played setter and tallied up 521 assists over the season. Banks led the team in hitting percentage at .938 percent. The senior served up 42 aces and recorded a 93.3-percent serving percentage. Banks covered the court well and made 236 digs.

“Jocie was our strong, poised speaking captain throughout the year,” said head coach Kinsy Voss. “Her calm confidence helped direct the girls on the court. Jocie could do pretty much anything from digging to hitting, but her hands and court sense made her an excellent setter.”

Hansen excelled as an outside hitter, leading the team with 192 kills and 49 aces. A versatile player, Hansen played a strong defense, totaling 253 digs and 17 blocks during the season.

Hansen’s hitting percentage stood at .852 percent and the senior rounded out the season with serving percentage of 89.7.

“Hanna was an all-around player and a leader on the court,” said Voss. “We had a certain confidence when she was out there. She was the first to celebrate other players’ kills, aces, blocks and digs along with her own.”

Keiter made waves as an outside hitter, slamming 163 kills over the net during the course of the season. Keiter ended the season with a hitting percentage of .845 along with a serving percentage of 85.0, including 37 aces.

On defense, Keiter made 264 digs and 13 blocks.

“Sierra was one of Lady Red’s most reliable back row players,” Voss stated. “She was our second-best on the receive line and her improvement on her serves made her very strong during the postseason. She was 100 percent (serving) at State. She was also our smart hitter in the front row, always looking for and finding the opponent’s holes.”

Runyan dominated defense as the team’s middle blocker, making 67 blocks during the season. Switching seamlessly to offense, Runyan delivered 133 kills and 34 aces against opponents.

“Hannah led Lady Red in blocks, almost tripling our second-best blocker,” said Voss. “She was also our third-best attacker – not only did she dominate at the net, but she was also reliable in the back row. She ended the year being a 92-percent server and also contributed many digs.”
