CASPER – The Big Piney Pinners wrestling club concluded its season at the State Finals in Casper on April 8-9.
While the team didn’t fare all that well collectively, some individual wrestlers had good showings on the mat, including Nahir Aguirre, who took fourth place in folkstyle.
In freestyle wrestling, the team had a handful of top finishers, including first-year wrestler Dane Brandt in sixth place, Zavier Clifford in third place, Zack Murphy in fifth and Garret Peden in sixth.
Following the state meet, the wrestling club held its awards banquet where it celebrated the kids’ hard work and thanked our coaches, especially Coach Hammer who has been the head coach for many years and is stepping down as his son enters middle school next year. He will still be involved with the club, just not in the head coach capacity. The club is excited to have so many interested in wrestling and look forward to watching them grow into young gentlemen and great wrestlers!
