Melinkovich to review Lincoln County investigation

SUBLETTE COUNTY – Lincoln County officials requested appointment of Sublette County Attorney Clayton Melinkovich as a special prosecutor to review their ongoing criminal investigation for potential charges.
Melinkovich confirmed this on Jan. 25 after receiving the Lincoln County commissioners’ resolution of appointment by Lincoln County commissioners.
“I have now received it and can confirm that I have been appointed as a special prosecutor to assist in Lincoln County with an investigation,” he said in an email. “As a reminder, simply being appointed as special prosecutor does not mean that criminal charges are imminent or guaranteed.”
Asked if this appointment concerned a bankrupt Marbleton couple or defunct landscaping business, confirmed as subjects of an investigation by Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and other counties, Melinkovich said, “Given that the appointment was for an ongoing investigation, I cannot comment on any details of the investigation.”
“My role would be to review an investigation for the purposes of making a charging decision, either to charge or decline to prosecute,” Melinkovich said.
