SUBLETTE COUNTY – A Marbleton woman who pleaded not guilty in Sublette County Circuit Court to endangering a man’s life by shooting toward him and vandalizing his vehicle is scheduled to change her plea on Aug. 31.

Chelsey M. Smith was charged for alleged misdemeanors on July 4 of reckless endangering, criminal trespass, interference with a peace officer, breach of peace and property destruction. She was also charged with violating a protection order, records show.

Smith was arrested very late on July 4 after deputies responded to two calls about her alleged actions that day. Before she was taken into custody, Sublette County Deputy Dan Ruby said he had to subdue Smith with his Taser when she resisted being handcuffed, according to his affidavit.

After Smith pleaded not guilty, her trial was set for Nov. 29 with an Oct. 31 pretrial conference.

On July 5, Smith appeared before Sublette County Circuit Judge Curt Haws, who set her bond at $10,000 cash or surety with stipulations that she have no altercations, not consume alcohol, not carry a firearm or have any contact with two men whose home she went to on July 4, among others.
