Letter to the editor: Hospital district supports Dr. Wallace

File photo of Dr. Stephen Buck Wallace

Dear editor,

The Sublette County Health District would like to update the community as to Dr. Stephen Wallace’s condition at his request. As has been reported in the newspaper, a few weeks ago, Dr. Wallace suffered a brutal assault that resulted in serious physical injuries.
He has been experiencing medical complications that required care at a Level 2 regional trauma center for emergency treatment.
He was then transferred to a Level 1 trauma center for a higher level of care. He has undergone a neurosurgical procedure and significant ICU stay of 13 days.
Currently Dr. Wallace is in a step-down unit for further recovery and rehabilitation.
The Sublette County Health District continues to support Dr. Wallace in his recovery and is eager for his quick return.
Dr. Wallace wanted us to express his thanks for the overwhelming amount of support to date. As Dr. Wallace continues to heal and moves toward returning home and back to work, he asks that donations to either the SAFV (Sexual Assault and Family Violence Task Force) or the Sublette County Health Foundation be made in lieu of meals or cards. He asks for the community’s respect of his privacy and hopes that his patients will not believe the negative information being spread throughout the community.

Sincerely,

Sublette County Hospital District
