Green River man allegedly had sex with minor in Sublette

SUBLETTE COUNTY – A Green River man, now 22, is charged with having sex with a minor girl one year ago in Sublette County.
The felony sexual abuse charge against Wesley W. Hathaway was bound over to 9th District Court on May 26 after the defendant waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Circuit Court.
Hathaway, then 21, allegedly had intercourse with a girl between the ages of 13 and 15 who lives out of state, according to court records. The charge filed by Sublette County Deputy Attorney Clayton Melinkovich is second-degree sexual abuse of a minor girl by someone older than 17 and at least four years older than the minor, records show.
The accompanying affidavit states that Detective Alaric Kaderavek and Deputy Danielle Cooper investigated the incident in October 2020 after a mental-health professional contacted the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office.
Hathaway was apparently taken into custody in February, when Judge Curt Haws set his bond at $20,000 cash or surety, to be posted in Sublette County. Hathaway was released on bond on Feb. 16, records show.
The details of a sexual crime – the alleged perpetrator and victim – are not publicly revealed in Circuit Court records until a charge is bound over to District Court.
Hathaway’s District Court arraignment is set for June 17 at 9 a.m.
The maximum penalty for second-degree felony sexual abuse of a minor is up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
