Girls’ swim team wins 4th at conference

The Sublette County combined

girls’ swim team placed fourth overall

at the two-day Conference Championships

hosted in Riverton on Oct. 25 and Oct. 26 with

203 points. Friday’s action opened with preliminary

races, followed by the top 12 battling

it out in the finals on Saturday.

Junior Isabella Romasko made the All-

Conference list with a first-place win in the

1-meter diving finals, tallying up a total of

359.95 points. Sophomore Sierra Hattan won

the 100-yard butterfly finals, clinching her

spot on the All-Conference roster with a time

of 1 minute, 3.31 seconds.

The 200-yard medley relay team of senior

Israel Seemann, Hattan, junior Emma Rogers

and senior Natalie Hunt finished in second

place in the finals on Saturday. Their time of

1:59.91, however, broke the Pinedale pool record.

Adalyn Bennett and Hunt received the

Sportsmanship Award at the event.

Sophomore Mia Buchanan punched her

ticket to State when she qualified in the 50-

yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle at the

Conference Championships. Junior Jennifer

Wheeler will also join the team at State after

qualifying in the 100-yard backstroke over the

weekend. Freshman Morgan Grossman added

the 200-yard freestyle to the list of events that

she has qualified for.

Additional final results:

• 200-freestyle finals: Bennett in sixth place

with a time of 2:14.52, Kaylee Day in seventh

at 2:15.38, Hayden Thoman in 10th at 2:18.54

and Grossman in 12th at 2:21.37.

• 200-yard individual medley finals: Hattan

in seventh place at 2:29.10, Paige Nielson in

12th at 2:45.65.

• 50-yard freestyle finals: Rogers in fourth

place at 26.21 seconds and Hunt in fifth at

26.62 seconds.

• 1-meter diving finals: Jennifer Wheeler in

12th place with 215.85 points.

• 100-yard butterfly finals: Hunt in fourth

place at 1:05.78, Seemann seventh at 1:08.57

and Thoman in 11th at 1:11.61.

• 100-yard freestyle finals: Rogers in

third place at 58.64 seconds, Bennett 10th at

1:01.37 and Buchanan in 12th at 1:04.21.

• 500-yard freestyle finals: Day in fifth place

at 6:07.86 and Grossman eighth at 6:20.40.

• 200-yard freestyle relay finals: Thoman,

Rogers, Bennett and Hunt in third place at

1:48.83.

• 100-yard backstroke finals: Seemann in

third place at 1:05.66 and Wheeler 12th at

1:13.98.

• 100-yard breaststroke finals: Nielson in

eighth place at 1:19.58 and Ceili Fallon 11th

at 1:28.01.

The swim team has two weeks to prepare

for the Wyoming State Girls’ Swimming

Tournament hosted by Gillette this year on

Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7 and Nov. 8. Before

state, the team competes at a non-qualifying

meet hosted in Lyman on Thursday, Oct.

31. The races begin at 4:30 p.m.

swimmers that qualified for State this year:

Hunt and Rogers qualified in all eight individual

events this year, earning the Adam

Denton Award for their achievements.

Seemann: 5-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle,

200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle,

100-yard backstroke, 100-yard butterfly and

200-yard individual medley.

Bennett: 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle,

200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle.

Thoman: 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle,

200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.

Grossman: 100-yard freestyle, 500-yard

freestyle and 200-yard freestyle.

Day: 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle

and 100-yard backstroke.

Nielson: 100-yard breaststroke and 200-

yard individual medley.

Hattan: 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard

individual medley.

Buchanan: 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard

freestyle.

Wheeler: 100-yard backstroke.

Romasko: 1-meter diving.

Ruby: 1-meter diving.

Auradou: 1-meter diving.
