SUBLETTE COUNTY – The flood advisory for Sublette and Lincoln Counties for the Green River, New Fork River and their tributaries has been upgraded to a river flood warning. Some areas will see crests higher than what occurred around June 11.
Any kind of recreation along the New Fork and Green rivers is not advised.
- At 6 a.m. on Monday, the New Fork River near Big Piney was at 8.0 feet. This is higher than the crest that occurred on June 11. Flood stage is 8 Feet. The river was expected to crest around 8.5 feet later Monday and extensive low-land flooding was anticipated.
- At 6 a.m. on Monday, the Green River near LaBarge was at 9.1 feet and rising. Flood stage is 9 feet. The river was expected to crest around 9.5 feet Monday night, and remain above flood stage through the day Wednesday. There will likely be an increase in minor lowland flooding, with some water over Whalen Road and Lincoln County Road 318 near La Barge.
Excessive runoff from rain Friday night and continued snowmelt will cause flooding of rivers and creeks, and country roads, farmland, and other low-lying spots near rivers and creeks.
Stay away or be swept away. Riverbanks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
