Elliott faces winter carnival sales charge

Charge added to previous 6 charges

SUBLETTE COUNTY – Stephen J. Elliott, operator of the Stockman’s Mountain Man Tavern in Pinedale, pleaded not guilty to six counts alleging he illegally purchased liquor and beer for the tavern from entities other than the Wyoming Liquor Division.

Jackson attorney Bob Horn entered the not guilty pleas on behalf of Elliott after continuing his Feb. 26 hearing to March 8, records show. He requested a six-person jury trial, which is scheduled for one day on Aug. 7.

He operates the Mountain Man Tavern, leased from property owner Kay Buston, through his company E Hospitality LLC. The Pinedale Town Council continued actions to renew his retail license until last night’s council meeting.

Also, Elliott was charged with selling alcoholic beverages without a catering permit after he reportedly had employees set up a table on Feb. 18 at the Pinedale Winter Carnival’s skijoring event. Elliott’s arraignment on that one misdemeanor was continued Monday, March 12, with no new date set as of press time.
