Boys' swim team caps off 2022 in second place at Kemmerer Triangular


KEMMERER – The Sublette County combined boys’ swim team received a brief holiday break before diving back into competition at the Kemmerer Triangular on Dec. 29.

Sublette County captured second place with 55 points, beating Lyman.

Senior Owen Nielson bagged gold in the 200-individual medley, posting a time of 2 minutes, 46.66 seconds. He beat the runnerup from Lyman by more than 1 second.

Nielson took third place in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:22.81.

Freshman Kaden Day won his first event of the season, the 100-backstroke, timing in at 1:26.38. Fellow freshman Scotty Ring placed second in the event at 1:29.57.

Junior Andy DeClue achieved second place in both the 50-freestyle, at 28.07 seconds, and the 400-freestyle, at 5:16.76.

In the 100-freestyle, junior John Ruby came in second place, hitting the finish line in 1:08.05.

Relay highlights included a second-place finish for the 4x100-meter team. Ruby, Ring, DeClue and Nielson clocked the relay in at 4:44.59.

Day, Reuben Allen, DeCluye and Nielson picked up silver in the 4x50-meter medley relay, finishing the event in 2:29.30.

Clocking in at 2:22.19 in the 4x50-meter freestyle relay, Day, Ruby, Calleb Willson and Allen placed third.

  • 200-individual medley: Ruby in fifth place at 2:57.84 and Day in sixth at 3:04.64.
  • 50-freestyle: Allen in eighth place at 42.44 seconds.
  • 100-freestyle: Willson in seventh place at 1:19.12.
