Big Piney honors Veterans Day

Big Piney’s National

Honor Society presented its annual Veterans

Day Assembly on Monday, Nov. 11, at

11 a.m. with every student and many friends

and family participating to show respect to

the area’s veterans.

After the line of veterans shook hands

with students entering Puncher Gymnasium,

Cade Anderson welcomed everyone to the

annual celebration. After the Big Piney

Band and Choir performed the National Anthem

and hats were removed for the Pledge

of Allegiance, the moving slideshow tribute

flashed decades-old photos on the screen to

recognize local veterans, many of whom are

no longer living.

With heartfelt speeches, special musical

tributes, poems and Spencer Nichols’

explanation of the Empty Chair ceremony

to remember prisoners of wars and those

missing in action – and a lonely trumpet

playing Taps – everyone showed their appreciation

to the veterans for their services

to the country.
