SUBLETTE COUNTY – Calm conditions and good fishing welcomed participants in the 2021 Big Fish Winter Derby at Fremont Lake over the weekend.

The annual event, hosted by the Pinedale Lions Club, brought people from across the region to Sublette County for yet another weekend of outdoor activity.

Travis Marchetti and Kyle Robertson were the two grand prize winners over the weekend. Robertson won Sunday’s slower fishing day with a 9.2-pound fish that measured 31 ¾ inches while Marchetti scored the biggest catch on Saturday with a 21.4-pound fish measuring 39 ½ inches.

Dave Pape finished second (7.8 pounds, 31 ¼ inches), Ed Brough earned third place (7.0 pounds, 28 ½ inches) and Casey Crookston finished fourth (6.8 pounds, 28 ½ inches) on Saturday. Grant Goody won the brown trout division with a 2.2-pound, 19 ¾-inch catch, while Michael Jackson won the rainbow trout division by scoring a 3.2-pound, 20 ¼-inch fish on Saturday.

Also in Saturday’s competition, Gus Robertson won the youth division grand prize with a 10.4-pound, 31 ¼-inch catch. Eck Robertson earned second place with a catch of 8 pounds, 29 ½ inches, and Jordan Wilkes finished third with a 4.2-pound, 25 ¾-inch catch.

Less fish were caught Sunday. Eric Hiltbrunner finished second with a 4.8-pound, 29 ½-inch. Otis Leniger earned third (3.0 pounds, 24 ¾ inches) and Matt Lucero finished fourth (2.8 pounds, 19 ¾ inches). Carter Adams won the grand prize in the youth division with a catch that measured 2.4 pounds and 20 ¼ inches.
